Australia Day!

Today is a holiday, which means it's a long weekend. Woo hoo!
Day started off great, get to sleep in late. We rolled out at 1o am. Took a light lunch and went to Ashfield for some grocery shopping. We were excited as we discovered a new place to get all our Asian goods. Thanks to Andy's parent's who unexpectedly found themselves taken to a new place by our uncle and aunty. There are so many shops in Ashfield, butchery and asian groceries. It was even nearer than Chinatown for us. Thank God for that.

Came home made ourselves some lunch. Andrew cooked himself bacon and eggs while I made myself a fish ball noodle soup. Yummy! I even tried making poached egg, but didn't look too good. Guess I failed. Need to get more training on this.

After that we watched a movie which I rented, V for Vendetta. Love it! Loved Hugo Weaving's role, though not his looks. So V's role is perfect for him.

One part which I find really brilliantly written, possibly by the author of the book, Alan Moore is the part when V introduced himself. Here's an excerpt:

"Who are you?"

"Who is but the form following the function of what and what I am is a man in a mask."

"Oh, I can see that."

"Of course you can. I’m not questioning your powers of observation. I’m merely remarking upon the paradox of asking a masked man who he is."

"Ho, right."

"But on this most auspicious of nights…permit me then, in lieu of the more commonplace sobriquet to suggest the character of this dramatis persona.

VoilĂ !
In view, a humble vaudevillian veteran cast vicariously as both victim and villain by the vicissitudes of fate. This visage, no mere veneer of vanity is a vestige of the vox populi, now vacant, vanished. However, this valorous visitation of a bygone vexation stands vivified and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin vanguarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition.

The only verdict is vengeance, a vendetta, held as a votive not in vain, for the value and veracity of such shall one day vindicate the vigilant and the virtuous. Verily, his vichyssoise of verbiage veers most verbose.

So let me simply add that it’s my very good honour to meet you and you may call me V."

Brilliant, isn't it? =) Oh, it's six... I better go return the DVDs!
