Flying with JetStar

From the moment I took 2 weeks off for Christmas (last year), I knew I may not be going back to celebrate Chinese New Year with my family. I felt that it was too near a holiday, and inevitably, it will be in colleagues mouth that for undue reasons, I'm taking yet another holiday. However, that was not my main concern. It was more of my responsibility and commitment towards my job hence, I was battling within myself to make a decision. Trust me, it wasn't easy. I so love spending CNY with family and visiting friends.

I weighed out the pros and cons, and I imagined myself going home. It was not as fun as I thought it would be. It must be fun, I tell myself, but I didn't feel it at all. Then I imagined myself not going home. I felt more peaceful if I just forgo the fact that it would be a happy reunion with family. Now, not that I'm trading the time with my family for my job, but I knew I can always go home later of the year.

I finally made the decision not go home. Andrew was keen to go back to Malaysia, but out of sacrificial love, he stayed back with me.

So weeks passed and yesterday came. Andrew called me in the morning, telling me that JetStar is flying to Malaysia from September! I was rather thrilled as we anticipated last year that this would happen. Immediately, I checked out their website, and there was a flight sale to Malaysia. Guess what's the ticket price? It was only $447.14 for a return ticket. I quickly grabbed the mouse, and booked a ticket home in September. I think the sale only lasted for a day. Praise the Lord! JetStar is a low-cost subsidiary of Qantas airline, therefore there won't be any food, entertainment nor amenities. Still, that's fine for me!

If I were to go back for CNY, it will only be for 2 weeks, and that is not long enough if I were to pay $900 for it. So, this September I will be home for a month long and what's even more special is, I'm celebrating mum's birthday this year with her.

All in all, everything worked out good. I get to go stay longer and I get to fly cheaper! That's all I want.
