Sense of direction, have you?

Was at IKEA yesterday for late night shopping. Was so glad that hubby wasn't around, opps, I should correct that. I meant, he wasn't around to shop with me.. (by the way, he's overseas for week training). So, I had the luxury to buy anything I want because no one's going to stop me. I did mention before that I don't really have the liking for window shopping. That statement still stand true. I already had in mind what I wanted. So, bought all the stuffs I wanted, paid and proceeded to the carpark.

I have always had a very good sense of direction. Take me to a place just once, and I will know for life how to get there. I'm not trying to brag here although that is one thing I'm proud of myself. I may not remember the name of the place, but I do remember the route. So, I took the lift to the carpark and I knew exactly which level I parked my car, and of course I also knew precisely where I park my car (directly opposite the lift, hehe, not fair eh?!). As I was loading the stuffs into the car, two ladies came out from the lift and halted. Both with puzzled looks, scanning around as though they were in a whole new and unfamiliar place. Instantly I knew they forgot where they parked their car. So, they walked up and down, trying to remember and trace back where they came from. After several minutes, they walked off. Hopefully they found their car. The very next minute, another pair came out from the lift, probably mother and daughter, both also looked lost. Again, these people forgot where they parked their car.

That left me to wonder, was it that difficult to know and remember directions? Or was it just a women thing. But I'm not like that at all! Here's the prove.

It was in 1998 and I was 17. One of mum's relatives passed away and we had to attend the funeral in Penang. The last time I visited this relative was when I was about 7-8 years old. So we drove up to Penang, and soon arrived Penang, but no one knew exactly where the house was in that particular area. I then told them that I think I know where the house is, and we should take the road opposite the shopping mall, and turn to either the first or second left. Mum, however was adamant that it was not opposite the mall but rather to the left of the mall. I was pretty sure I was correct, but she insisted that we look around the area to the left of the mall. So we did, and we drove around but still couldn't find the house. So, finally mum and dad relented and tried the direction I suggested.

So we did, and mum was still saying, "but how do we know exactly which house?" Dad and I replied "if it's a funeral, w surely won't miss it". True enough, immediately after saying that, we found the house in exactly the direction I told them. They were so amazed and even I was so surprised at my own sense of direction. It was 10 years, yet I can clearly remember where the house was.

Pretty good eh? hehe..

Alrighty, I'm going off for holiday next week. Will post all the pictures when I get back and I shall reveal the holiday destination next.
